I was diagnosed with JRA in 2006

In the Fall of 2006, at just 3 years old, I had surgery on my knee and was found to have Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. Since then this disease, which attacks my immune system which causes inflammation and pain in my joints, has spread to other parts of my body. While at times I do suffer pain and stiffness, I am a tough little fighter when it comes to my disease. I am on a regular dose of medication - but, I have learned that exercise is the best medicine for her arthritis. I hike, ski, dance, play soccer, and chase around my brother and large black lab, Mookie. And on September 26th, 2009 - I, Mookie and the rest of my family will participate in the Arthritis Walk to be held in Burlington, VT. I want the exercise, but more importantly I want to raise money for the Arthritis Foundation.

Why is this effort so important?

I am one in 50,000 American children that have Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. But, over 300,000 children nationwide suffer from some form of the disease. It is the nations most common cause of disability. In fact, one in five people suffer from the pain of arthritis. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) project that by the year 2030, 67 million people in the U.S., or 1 in 4 adults, will live with arthritis.

Won't you help me, help the Arthritis Foundation fund research to find a cure?
